Personalized Fine Art

INTRODUCTION

John’s creative drive evolved while growing up among artistic family members in Venice, Florida.  John has sketched and painted through out his life and after a successful career in the corporate world; he departed in 1996 to focus on his art career.  He has attended selected art classes at the University of South Florida and Hillsborough Community College, as well as many seminars. Part of the educational process was a six-week tour of Europe visiting most of the major museums. It was this experience that spawned his interest in the bravado (lose brush strokes) style.

John is active in the art community and Chairman of the North Tampa Arts League, is a board member of the Arts Council of Hillsborough County and chairman of the Artist Advisory Committee.  John currently works out of his North Tampa studio daily.

PERSONALIZED FINE ART

John focuses on personalized fine art and his business is appropriately named Personalized Fine Art (PFA).  Most of his commissions are realized by word of mouth. His commissions include portraits, home portraits, and paintings that are coordinated with the client’s environment.  John works closely with the client so the client has input into the creation of the artwork.

BRAVADO  STYLE

For the first seven years of his art career, John studied  famous artist who paint in the bravado style.  These artists include John Singer Sargent, Frank Benson, Richard Schmidt and Harley Brown.  John takes artistic license when rendering the subject, usually leaving some of the content out.   At times the bravado style appears almost abstract which allows the viewer to complete the image in their imagination

ABSTRACT IMAGES CAST IN RESIN

Over the past several years, John has developed a very unique process called “abstract images cast in resin”.  The work is done on a slick surface that allows the paint to be manipulated in unusual ways.  Because the image is cast, the paint has no texture and the colors appear brighter with greater appearance of depth.  This method also yields a very durable painting that can live in moist environments and be bent around corners to accommodate problematic wall space.  John’s abstract paintings deal mainly with the depiction of human behavior.
