Dorie Anderson Bio

Creating in 2D and 3D, my subject matter includes the figure, horse, landscape, and sculpture. Abstracting shapes from a classical/modern background, I use collage to realism and convey my visual vocabulary as idealism within an abstract image.

Watercolor landscapes are frequently abstracts of color inspired from my direct observation of seeing south and central Florida properties.

The figure in oil, watercolor and sculpture, (clay, bronze, and plaster) has a narrative quality.    Frequently these2D and 3D pieces are accompanied by poetry from my imagination, and I consider them a dialogue between the literal and unseen.

I like movement, implied or real, and use a directional stroke technique in dry and wet media.  It’s strokes of Impressionistic/a style I like that is poetic, and expressive.
