"Purple Sun" is available in a wall art series constructed of pattern etched aluminum backgrounds that are clear coated to enhance light reflection and to preserve the beauty of the swirl design engraved on the surface.

The foreground is enhanced by a 4" - kiln cast, hand cut, pure glass tile primarily purple in color with a gold metalic band running through it's center. The varying colors of glass are layered and fused together producing a brilliant and reflective centerpiece to this wall sculpture. As the light source is varied this tile reflects a gold/green hue that makes it particularly unique. This effect could be compared to the "flip flop" effect used in custom automotive paint finishes. The background is an etched aluminum  plate 1/8" thick. The pattern on the plate's surface picks up any available light and, like all of the pieces in this series, looks spectacular in sunlight or under colored lighting in the room.

The aluminum disk is mounted on a 3/4" thick substrate and "floats" in front of the matting. The black mat is painted in a dry brush pattern and colored in purple and gold to compliment the colors in the tile.

This is a truely unique original piece. The work is presented in a mat black frame approximately 2" wide. The finished work measures approximately 34” X 34”.
