Dee Youmans Miller Bio
--------------------------------------

Art is my lifelong passion. A Florida native, I first began painting at 12. As a young adult, I graduated from a technical school for commercial art. That step unleashed a steady flow of unbridled art activity for my career pipeline. Through many twists and turns, art remains at the core of my professional life.

Artistically, I have taught both art and art history at Remington College , a private Tampa Bay college. While there I was awarded “Teacher of the Year” honors. I hold both a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Art History and a Master's Degree in Art Education from the University of South Florida .

While employed by the Education Department of the Tampa Museum of Art, I helped organize weekend programs for visitors – conducting tours through exhibitions, arranging workshops, teaching and arranging drawing classes. It was a great learning ground to appreciate art from the public's viewpoint.

An unusual career highlight? While employed by that museum, I served as curator for “The Circus is Coming” exhibition, celebrating 200 years of circus art. I collected memorable pieces on loan from the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota as well as from the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus. Visitors loved learning about circus art while reliving their personal memories of the Big Top. Talk about art imitating life!

On the advertising side, I've served as art director for a well-known Tampa advertising agency and have over 20 years of advertising experience. Today, I work as art director for Full Throttle Intermedia, a company I co-own in New Tampa, FL.

Full Throttle's projects vary from direct mail pieces to logo design, from stationary packages to illustration. I pride myself on listening to customers. I'm also flexible. I can take a project from conception to finished product, or just do a small piece of it, depending on client needs.

As an artist, I also continue to create personal and commissionable pieces in acrylic, oil, colored pencil and multimedia collage. Many are in private collections nationwide. Check out my gallery on this site. Also, a sampling of my other awards and exhibitions is listed below. Thanks for visiting my site!
